Magherini Lucilla



Dr. Lucilla Magherini, born in 1963, Medical Doctor, M.Sc. Analysis for Health Care Decision, LSE.

Dr. Magherini has 15 Years of professional experience of which 11 specifically in health economics and financing in developing countries and 4 working as qualified medical doctor. She is an expert in Health Sector Reforms, worked in Health Financing and Insurance, Health Services Evaluation, Quantitative Methods for Analysis and Decision Making in Health Care, Qualitative methods for analysis; Use of participatory approach in Health Sector Reform.

Dr. Magherini has completed many short-term consultancy assignments, mainly in the health care financing area with specific focus on health insurance, project evaluation and monitoring, economic evaluation. Her interest is specifically in analysing alternative financing systems, capacity building within health sector financing, cost analysis, resource allocation methods, health budget analysis.

Dr. Magherini completed also several long-term assignments mainly in health sector reforms programs; she supported the Egyptian Ministry of Health in developing strategies for health financing. She has been technical advisor for health care financing in support of the Cambodian Ministry of Health; she has worked as reference person for the project "Health in Italy in the 21st Century" for WHO in Rome. Recently Dr. Magherini has become consultant for the Italian Regional Health Authority managing and coordinating various projects.

Dr. Magherini's field experience ranges from South East Asia (mainly Cambodia and Thailand), to Africa (Sierra Leone, Liberia Guinea-Conakry, Mauritania, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, RDC) and Latin America (El Salvador) and the Middle East (Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Yemen).
