Mr.Alain Leveque, M.D., M.Sc (Tropical Diseases and Epidemiology), Ph.D. Epidemiologist (º1957)
- His main expertise covers Evaluation of health services, Health Information Systems, Epidemiology, Management of health human resources and Development both in the context of low, middle-income and industrialised countries.
- He started his first long term assignment as clinician and project manager in Chad in 1985. He has long-term field experience in several countries in Africa, including as technical adviser for the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) in Burkina Faso.
- Since 1995, Alain Leveque is linked to the Public Health School of Brussels as senior lecturer and researcher. At present he is Professor of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine and at the School of Public Health at the Free University in Brussels (ULB). He is director of a research unit in the area of epidemiology, injuries and chronic diseases in the Department of Epidemiology and Health Promotion. He is coordinator of the summer course in epidemiology and biostatistics at the ULB.
- Alain Leveque is "guest professor" in several Universities and institutions in Africa (e.g. Algeria, Benin, DRC, Morocco, Rwanda).
- He is member of several advisory comities for the health authority in Belgium; and joined HERA as a partner in 1996.
- His field experience is mainly focused on Europe, the Mediterranean (Algeria, Morocco) and Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, DRC, Mali and Rwanda).
