Mr. Luc Berghmans, M.D., Public Health Expert (º1949)
- His main expertise includes Public Health; Health Policy; Planning of health systems and health services; Epidemiological and health systems research; Health Information Systems; Prevention and health promotion organisation.
- Luc Berghmans is linked to the Public Health School of Brussels Free University, where he teaches health planning and health system organisation (developing and industrialised countries). Presently he is head of the 'Observatoire de la Santé du Hainaut', provincial institute responsible for the management of the health information system, the prevention of chronic diseases and health promotion in the province. He is also visiting lecturer to the Catholic University of Louvain.
- Luc Berghmans joined HERA in 1993.
- His field experience in Africa is mainly health systems development in Tanzania, Mali, Burkina Faso and Benin. Other experiences cover Cambodia, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Canada and the EU in the fields of primary health care, health promotion and health information systems.
- Luc Berghmans is a member of the "National Expert Committee" regarding the National Plan on Nutrition and Health and of the Regional High Council on Health promotion (French Community).
